How a purchase works
The whole point of settling on-chain is that neither side has to trust the other. Here is exactly what happens, in order, and what it costs.
Reserve
Inquire from the piece's page. Within one business hour we confirm availability, fix the USD price, and send a settlement request: an escrow address on Robinhood Chain and the ETH amount at that minute's rate, valid 30 minutes. Expired requests are simply reissued.
Escrow
You send ETH from any wallet on Robinhood Chain to the escrow contract. Funds sit in the contract, not in a HoodTime wallet. Release needs your approval; refund needs only a failed authentication or 14 days without a report.
Authenticate
Within three business days, an independent watchmaker examines the piece and issues a written report: serial and case numbers against warranty card, movement calibre and service condition, timegrapher results, water-resistance test, and photographs under magnification.
Release and ship
You approve the report on-chain. Escrow releases to HoodTime, the watch ships the same day fully insured, signature required. You have 48 hours after delivery to raise a dispute, which pauses nothing on-chain because you've already seen the report, but does open a return.
Fees
A buyer's fee is added to the fixed dollar price and covers the authentication report, insured shipping, and escrow gas. It is 3% for buyers without $WATCH and falls with the tiers on the $WATCH page, to zero at the top tier. There is no seller's fee to you because we are the seller.
If authentication fails
It shouldn't, because we've already inspected every piece before listing. If the independent report contradicts ours in any material way, escrow refunds your ETH in full, including the fee, and the watch is withdrawn.
